First REDCAP modules for the Spanish Ministry of Defence!

Last March, the first REDCAP modules were delivered to the Spanish Ministry of Defence as a milestone in the project that started in 2021, when REDCAP was selected as a relevant technology for defence and security by the Directorate general of Arms and Materials in the Cooperation Program for Scientific Research and Development of Strategic Technologies (COINCIDENTE for its acronym in spanish).
During these years, Spanish Navy Logistic Support Head Office (JAL) has been acting as technical supervisor, while Subdirectorate General of Planning, Technology, and Innovation (SDG-PLATIN) has been acting as administrative supervisor.
This milestone demonstrates the viability of REDCAP as an energy storage dual technology, bringing independency to Europe in the security field by its fully local supply chain, having a great impact not only in energy supply but also in military operations and weapons.
Initial steps of this technology were a collaboration between REDCAP founding partners and IMDEA Energy Institute in Madrid since 2010, being the project a good example of collaboration between scientifics, companies, and defence, and how a dual technology can be a critical element for security and defence.
As a result and recognition of its relevant for the security of the western nations, this technology has aroused interest in European Defence Agency, NATO through its DIANA accelerator, USA Department of Defence through its Foreign Comparative Testing, and now it is part of the NOMAD project funded by European Union.
